WTF? The bank gave the woman who had that bill it's face value?? That's to be expected but she should have declined and taken it straight to ebay. or a currency broker. $10K bills almost never surface and when they do, they go for many, many thousands over face value, in any condition. Hell even ratty $500 bills fetch nearly a grand. I think she got hosed.

True enough, but I'll bet if they find out how much they could have gotten for it, they will very definitely feel hosed.

Maybe they just didn't want to go through the trouble of finding a buyer, auctioning it, etc?

If 10k went unnoticed in a SD box until now, they must be decently well-to-do. Old money families aren't really overly unconcered about picking up a few extra thousand on 10g note.

that's spanking new, if you look at the number, it appears to be #1!!!
dude, that's worth at least 10 or 20 times the face value.

Strangely enough, $10K notes are so rare, the serial number won't add a lot to the value. But under normal circumstances, I agree it would be a huge factor.

Face value?!? Someone needs to punch whoever accepted that price IN the face, it's no wonder why the richest get richer and everyone else stays put or goes broke.

The people at the bank were sleazy enough to exchange the $10,000 bill at face value without saying anything?

That is some major sleaze.

Well ignorant people need to get educated...
On this particular issue I be the person was poor and wanted money fast and also probably didn't have enough education.

sure and lets announce that this extremely rare $10k bill is now at JP Morgan Chase & Co - I'm sure some thieves love to hear this kind of news  not exactly brilliant, but then the media tends to be that way

Im sure stealing something from JP Morgan is as simple as walking to your local 7-11 and sneaking out with a candy bar in your jacket.
