Fake pimp from ACORN videos tries to 'punk' CNN correspondent
http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/09/29/okeefe.cnn.prank/index.html?hpt=T2

See kids this is what a internet troll in real life is like.

Burns did not respond to CNN. The "CNN Caper" document warned O'Keefe about how to handle potential problems.
"If CNN gets advance warning and you find this out, you should simply cancel the operation, period," the document states. "You're in a position of strength. Make her [Boudreau] come to you. To leave the boat kills the operation."

The document discusses the potential fallout from the operation.

"If they pursue this as you are a creep, you should play it up with them initially only to reveal that the tape was made beforehand confirming this was a gag," the document states. "If they [CNN] admit it was a gag, you should release the footage and focus on the fact they got punked, and make sure to emphasize Abbie's name and overall status to help burden her career with this video, incident and her bad judgment in pursuing you so aggressively."

Finally, "if they go on the attack, you should point out the hypocrisy in CNN using the inherent sexuality of these women to sell viewers and for ratings, passing up more esteemed and respectable journalists who aren't bubble-headed bleach blondes and keep the focus on CNN."

And this is a story why?

From his earliest days in college, O'Keefe has been "punking" people who think highly of themselves as well as the "politically correct."

The ACORN recordings were also a "punk" initially, except that the ACORN staff and management being recorded started saying a lot more than O'Keefe was ever expecting. They actually incriminated themselves and the organization they represented as criminal enablers and that became serious really fast.

O'Keefe is a merry prankster and a jokester at heart. Not of the left, where so many others of that ilk claim allegiance, but of the right, where most others are conservative in demeanor and behavior.

Young people who identify themselves as conservatives are definitely increasing in number and much of the shift can be attributed to massive disappointment in the Obama presidency as well as the Democrat Congress.

This is a trend which bears exploring, but O'Keefe is an outlier rather than the story.

James O'Keefe, best known for hitting the community organizing group ACORN with an undercover video sting, hoped to get CNN Investigative Correspondent Abbie Boudreau onto a boat filled with sexually explicit props and then record the session, those documents show.

Wow, is he 16 years old?

This is a story because gullible rubes like you fall for O'Keefe's antics. This very post is evidence. Did you know that the ACORN people went to the police after he left with his "prostitute" with all the information they gathered from playing along with his scam?

LOL! I am far from gullible and right from the start of the ACORN story I pointed out that O'Keefe was a prankster. You only had to look at his Veritas Visuals WWW site and do a YouTube search to figure that out!

A couple of my favorites -

I know a lot about the story and have tracked it from the beginning, posting many times here on the topic. I like to go straight away to the source materiel. Have you, yourself, ever viewed the tapes or read the transcripts?

Which ACORN staff went to the police after being recorded? All of them, or just one or two of them, well after they offered up all those helpful tidbits on how to run a whorehouse for illegal minors, not to mention cool advice on committing financial and tax fraud? (Hint: Only one official PD report was made and it was only a report of a suspicious character, which O'Keefe certainly was.)

I find it quite sad that so many here, like yourself, just regurgitate the spin they get from their favorite lefty sites. There is much to be gained by doing some independent searching, the Internet has really made it quite easy, you know!

Where do you get the "heavy" editing spin? Media Matters? LOL!

Have you viewed ANY of the tapes? Do you realize that most of these are just continuous recordings of poor visual quality (as the camera and mike were hidden in a bag or briefcase?)

The recordings go on and on and on as the ACORNITES dig themselves into deeper and deeper holes.

Again, why repeat spin? Why not look at the source materials and decide for yourself for a change?

You can find them on

YouTube

and with full transcripts here

Big Government

Watch a few and then we can have an intelligent discussion.

You do know the story really is quite old, and your chance to make a difference has passed you by? :awe:

The heavy editing is the reason ALL of the state lvl investigations were thrown out against ACORN. But I'm sure those were decided by mediamatters ... :(

Their brand of "conservatism" is not that of their parents and grandparents, though. It's probably best described as libertarianism... which isn't too popular with the Bible thumpers and "moral values" crowd. It is, however, a brand of conservatism I welcome, and think we need more of.

I've been approached by CNN for an interview where I know what their angle is: they want to portray me and my friends as crazies, as non-journalists, as unprofessional
Well you certainly showed them.

I love this guy's story about Acorn where he and his ho told the Acorn rep they wanted to smuggle in underage mexicans for prostitution. On the videotape they gave to Fox the Acorn guy nods and encourages them to tell him as much information as possible. They played the tape on Fox and the ho said "it was amazing how this acorn guy was so willing to help us perpetrate underage prostitution, it's disgusting." Meanwhile, right after they left his office, the Acorn guy called the cops and gave them all the info he got from these two jokers. Fox has somehow never mentioned that part.

No one takes O'Keefe seriously anymore, dude was exposed a while ago:

But prosecutors in New York and California eventually found no evidence of wrongdoing by the group, and the California probe found the videos had been heavily and selectively edited.

So seriously, who cares (well, except fringe righties).

As my planned day sail on the Chesapeake has been inconvenienced by the threat/occurrence of tornadoes, I have now wandered back into this thread to see what all the ruckus is about. Miss me?

What am I supposed to be defending myself from? None of the above contrary posters have provided any supporting references. Not one has made any cogent argument. It is obvious that not one has actually watched the source materiel and have, instead, relied on various pablum dispensers for their daily talking points. Why am I not surprised?

Relying on personal insults does not an argument win, loosers! :awe:

So, out of the kindness of my heart and the pity I feel at your pathetic, flailing attempts to gain cred for a Darwin Award, let me proffer yet another fine screed addressing yet more ACORN misdeeds...

BTW, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has reinstated a congressional ban on federal funding of ACORN. Hehehe.

Citing massive irregularities and gross taxpayer funding abuses, Federal investigators are now recommending that government funding for ACORN’s still operating housing affiliate be cut off immediately.

Investigators must have felt it was necessary to urge the funding cutoff because the Federal government’s prohibition on funding ACORN isn’t a permanent ban. It exists at the whim of lawmakers and runs out at the end of this month. Oh No, Mr. Bill! Say it ain't so!

The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Inspector General found that ACORN Housing, which changed its name earlier this year to Affordable Housing Centers of America (AHC), may have concealed fraud by destroying or failing to produce records.

ACORN violated federal rules on how grants are to be used. The group charged the government salary costs for employees after they were terminated, the report said, and violated federal procurement standards.

The report suggested ACORN corruptly funneled taxpayer dollars to its affiliates and engaged in money laundering.

ACORN has taken in more than $19 million in housing counseling grants since 1995 from HUD. NeighborWorks, a congressionally chartered nonprofit, gave ACORN $25.9 million. ACORN Housing has received more than $27.3 million from other federal and non-federal sources, the report said.

Did you know that Nevada’s Democratic Attorney General, Catherine Cortez Masto, is moving forward with a criminal prosecution of ACORN even though the group has dissolved its national structure and reportedly slashed its workforce from 250 to four employees?

Trial has been scheduled for Nov. 29. The charges relate to ACORN’s crime of choice: election fraud. Conrad Hafen, Chief Deputy State Attorney General, was quoted saying neither bankruptcy nor dissolution would "necessarily protect (ACORN) from prosecution" in Nevada.

Do you think if ACORN is convicted yet again that it would send a message to other leftist organizing circles across the nation and might embolden more prosecutors to take on ACORN and similar groups? Hehehe.

O'Keefe is best known for making a series of undercover videos inside ACORN offices around the country in 2009. The 40-year-old liberal group was crippled by scandal after O'Keefe and fellow activist Hannah Giles allegedly solicited advice from ACORN workers on setting up a brothel and evading taxes.
The videos led to some of the employees being fired and contributed to the disbanding of ACORN, which advocated for low- and middle-income and worked to register voters.
But prosecutors in New York and California eventually found no evidence of wrongdoing by the group, and the California probe found the videos had been heavily and selectively edited.

This guy is the very definition of an overprivileged douchebag.
