fake oakleys?

A friend of mine says he can get me a good deal on Oakley half jackets. He said they will come with a box, warranty card and carrying case. I think they might be knockoffs. Is there generally any way to tell. Are there any characteristics I can look for? I also bring this point up because I've considered buying a pair through ebay, but I'm afraid of not getting an authentic pair.

Look at the quality of the frame and lense.

The *O* should be VERY VERY sharply embossed or designed in to the frame. It should be a PERFECT shape and the line and contours should be PERFECT.

If you have seen a real pair of Oakleys you will know. The workmanship is amazing.

I love my 2 pairs

well, i think none of the fakes on ebay have boxes or warranty cards... they just come with the cleaning pouch (can be bought)... have no mention of whether they are authentic or not..and go for about 60$

i dont think ive seen a fake with a fake boxes/warr cards

If you're not in a hurry to buy them, I'd go to your nearest Sunglass Hut or wherever they sell oakleys near you and ask to try on some half jackets. That way, you'll know exactly what they look and feel like, and then would be able to make a comparison to your friend's pair. I find that a lot of people I know want to buy oakleys, but have never even tried on a pair. If you try one on firsthand, I can pretty much guarantee that you'll be able to spot a fake. No fakes I've ever tried (and believe me, I tried on a bunch during trips to DC and NYC ) have come close to the build quality of genuine oakleys.

As far as your friend's deal, a box, warranty card and carrying case is a good sign. I've known some people who just get tired of their oakleys and are willing to sell them way below what they paid. But if you're still not sure, ask to try them out for a day, take some pics and post them. If you do that, I (and other self proclaimed oakley aficionados ) can probably tell you.

If you're going to shell out that much money for a pair of shades, make sure you're getting the real deal. I've never regretted my juliets

yeah and I wanted them.. but couldnt justify their price... but my brother got them for me (T_T ) I use it as much as I can and I always remember him.

All the ones I bought in Chinatown, NYC came with all that stuff. So that's not a way to tell.

Like other people said.. fake ones feel fake. Compared to my 2 real pairs the fake ones feel like cheap toys.

fake ones have a MADE IN CHINA sticker on them.
Real oak's have a MADE IN USA written on them. or at least mine do.

i have never seen fakes with MADE IN USA on them.
