You do realize that "I call it like I see it" is merely a paraphrase for defending an indefensible claim? It means that you accept that your premise is inherently false, but you don't care anyway because the only thing that matters is how you feel.

In other words, whenever you or anyone says, "I just call it like I see it," you are admitting that you are an innocent victim of damnable facts that upset your general comfort.

Not true at all.

Maybe that is how you use the phrase and you are projecting.
