fake name on a credit card?

i already have a couple of credit cards. however, i was wondering if it is possible to put a fake name when signing up for a credit card while giving them my real address(for billing purposes)?

assuming the credit card w/ the fake name is approved, would i be able to pay the cc bill with my check (even though the name on the check is _my_ name and is different from that on the credit card)?

As long as the funds are good, you can pay a CC with anything. They don't check the name on the check vs. the name on the CC. Some people pay off their personal CCs with business account checks.

Well, I can tell you that as long the account number is on the check and it clears, they don't seem to care whose name is on the check, or even how many checks are sent to them at one time. Last month I sent a 3 checks from 3 different people to a credit card company.

As for applying, how do you propose to give them a fake name, fake SSN and real address and have them actually approve you?

The fake name would be listed on your credit report. It is possible but some flags may go up if you have a previous credit history under your real name. If they approved it that would become your newest name in the system and your real name would be moved to the "previously known as" column. Anybody can pay the account.
It would be easier to get a business card with the business name being the fake name you want.

oh yeah i forgot about the ssn!!
i was just asking because some of the credit cards have offers when you sign up, but you can only sign up once. so i was thinking about using a different name but... i completely forgot about the ssn.
