fake MicroSD card 16gb :(

yeah I got scammed, I knew it was too good to be true for 10 bucks ah well time to move on ( no I cannot return it, bloody china scam artists)

Anyway no point crying about it, I suspected maybe by 16gb they meant giga bits meaning 2 gigabytes which is it's real capacity which I still intend to use.

Any way of changing the capacity of the microSD to reflect its real capacity?
 
Try creating a 2gb partition, then do chkdsk /r for FAT or chkdsk /B for NTFS to check for mark the sectors. If that is MUCH less than 2gb then format it as 16gb then do the chkdsk /r or /B again.

It's refreshing to see a man on this board. There's too much crying these days.
 
how do I use the formatter program? I tried using format size adjustment but no dice, still says 15.2G. I don't know how to put partitions on the microSD (tried to on using puppy linux)

it is confirmed to be a 2GB card as the first thing I did when I got it was to put it through h2test, normally I wouldnt fall for it, in fact I did think it was too good to be true. However when 3400 feedbacks say it is good its quite convincing. I wonder do the scammers mix in real 16GB cards.....
 
i wish i saved it, but there's a picture of a guy that bought a usb-powered hdd (those 2.5" ones), and opened it to find a flash drive LOL

Was it this one?

Some kind of like 128meg flash device plus some controller that would tell you it was much larger.

And you thought nobody made WOM (Write Only Memory).
They seem to have perfected it. Even closer to the ideal than when CD writers were unreliable and frequently made coasters (CD-WOMs).

Soon we will have the perfect WOM device.

did u paypal?

U have protection on a falsly or confusing advertised item.
And paypal can reverse the transaction.
 
the night shift sells real 16GB cards that are rejects at the real factories after the doors shutdown 🙂 good luck detecting those until they start having major issues.
 
yeah, I saw that on Engadget while researching on how to fix my microSD card.

How the hell do they do this crap.... seriously 🙁
 
glad that scam died out. If only SD would create a standard that meant that you couldn't create a fake SD card.
