Fake Lamborghini?

Chaotic42

I just got back from getting some dinner, and I saw what looked like a Lamborghini, but it was like a broken one. It wasn't shiny, the wheels looked too small, and it was kind of off kilter. It looked like someone built a Lamborghini shell out of wood or something and put it on their car.

Am I crazy?

lamborghini kit?

As said before, kit car. Someone probably took a Fiero, ripped it down to the frame, and bolted on some stupid shoddy knockoff lambo body - pointless

They are called Kit cars... you can use anything and just stick a cheap knockoff body on it.

Lamborghini doesn't have a problem with that? Isn't their image copyrighted?

Besides, who the hell would want that? If a non-car person like me can tell it's not real, wouldn't your car savvy friends just make fun of you?

Same reason you see "Type R" stickers on a Hyundai Sonata..... people are dilusional.

there are many "fake" kit cars of everything, the Cobra is the most popular one. then there is the Fierari (a Pontiac Fiero with a Testarossa body on it)

There are like 20 of those in my town and you can totally tell they are fiero's cuz they have that pontiac muffler rumble

Most of the Cobra kit cars are well-done and not hack-jobs based on other cars though. In fact, the right Cobra kit can out-perform the original because of improvements in suspension design and engine tuning that have occured since the original. Of course, that's really the only way to look at the Cobra kits because they certainly don't have the value or the pedigree of the Shelby cars. 🙂

There was a outfit here in Eugene that made a kit to bolt onto a Fiero that looked like a Ferrari.

In fact it looked SO much like a Ferrari that Ferrari sued them and made them stop producing them.

That could be one of them, I'm not sure.

Still for the "Avarage" person, that's maybe as close to a Ferrari as they will ever get.
If you want a exotic and can't afford one I see no problem with a NICE kit car. As long as it IS a nice one.

The Cobra kits are good though, especially considering the rarity of the real car. They aren't shells you put on top of another car.

A good cobra kit car seems ok to me because it's got real performance and tries to be a poor man's job at making the original (I think).

However, taking a fiero and putting a different body and interior on it is, in my opinion, grounds for execution. Anybody driving such a kitcar should be thrown in a deep hole never to be thought of again. It's about the lamest fvcking thing a person can do. Spending $50k in performance mods on an otherwise slow civic isn't even in the same ballpark of idiocy and lamey-ness!

Really it all depends on the amount of money and time the person is willing to put into it. I've seen fiero kits that were so damn close to the real thing that most people couldn't tell the difference. A stretched fiero frame can be made to the same length/width of a Diablo VT frame very easily. It will also accept a Northstar V8 (so you can make the kit cars quite powerful).

I'm sorry, I don't think I read that correctly

Worst. Seats. Ever.

That engine has more chrome than a cylon from Battlestar Galactica.

That doesn't say "POWER" to me, it screams "TACKY"

Nice job on the body though.

Well considering that engine is cranking out 700HP, and a real Diablo VT 6.0 engine puts out 492HP, I'd be more than happy to take the 'TACKY' engine and worst. seats. ever. over the real thing any day.

i dunno. if you can pull it off, and make a kit car look good... well then fine. you get the stares and a nice looking car, without much cash. but same rules as any show car: you must understand the car is NOT FAST...
