Faint Line on LCD monitor (Image persistence?)

promposive

Hi, I have a Viewsonic VA902b, (19" LCD). After some time of being turned on (30 mins or so?) I see a line all the way across the screeen appear about an inch from the top. The line is only noticeable on like greys, and maroonish, etc.. At first I though it was this "image persistance" and the line from firefox was getting "burnt in" to the monitor, so I started running firefox in a windowed mode and made sure it didnt put the line up there where it is, I also changed my background to a mostly white one with no lines up there. This has been a few days ago, and it is still there.

I only purchased this about 5 months ago, what could this be? Should I try to get it replaced under warranty? Is it going to get worse?

Thanks for any advice

I have had the exact same problem on 2 NEC LCD2080's and i even get it on my new LCD2090. 1 of them got so bad it started to look like water had leaked inside the panel.

The way to get rid of it is to leave a white screen. I use marquee screensaver with white background and no txt and leave it for aslong as it took to burn the image (this could take days), eventually it should weaken it but it never disapears, well at least in my experience.
Anyway your right it is noticable more on a grey background and its bloody annoying. I think its down to the heat, in winter i never had this problem. Touch the top left and feel the warmth.
If this is the case then id suggest having a fan blow onto the top of the monitor.
