I've heard quite a number of people who have had logitech z560s that have had to be replaced or repaired. Is this a big issue or just a select unlucky few who have problems?

One of things people fail to consider is the volume of these speakers that are being sold. I'm guessing compared to the Klipsch (sp?) speakers, the ratio is 4 sets of logitech's to 1 set of Klipsch. Of course there are gonna be quality control issues because of the high volumes they are selling of these speakers. Usually, the fuse inside of the sub will blow due to improper power flow. Klipsch speakers are of a higher build quality but you can't go wrong with the logitech's and I believe the logitech's do have a 2 year no questions asked warranty so you're good there.

I agree with amdskip - logitech makes some solid speakers with the z560s. I think that most of the people who have blown their speakers dont allow them to be worn in. Dont blast the speakers right out of the box!!!
