memtest boot CD tells all, then move on to OS stress test's

try testing with memtest on test 8 and 5 for about 10 passes each, if it errors at stock then you have a problem with memory, if it is running off of SPD that is (aka no overclock, or tweaked timings or voltage)

i'll run memtest from the BIOS, is that OK?
how do i get it do 10 passes on 8 and 10?
what are some OS stress tests???

hmm i cant quite remember the options in memtest off the top of my head, i think you press C to configure when it automatically starts, then press 3 for select individual test, then either put in the number 5 or 8 which ever one you want to run otherwise it will just loop all 9 tests which are not relevant, then press enter and 0 to resume the testing, this will then loop the specified test number, and it will show you how many passes it does also, a pass is just one loop of the test.

this is all off the top of my head from the boot CD version, which i imagine is the same as the DFI BIOS version.

I would use S&M for testing within windows, i find this and prime 95 to be the most accurate,

small FFT for the CPU

Large FFT for the RAM

and blend for both simultaneously

i test 12 hours on each

S&M is an extreme stress test. Usually detects errors that P95 doesn't

Ow ya, try small FTTS. If it is 100% stable, its probably your memory then.

grrrrr, this is soooo frustrating. my keyboard isnt recognized by the system (cuz its USB) so i cant change the memtest options....

i'm gonna try the small FTTs

have you got a ps2 converter lying around? i ask because i have two for some reason , i suppose you haven't otherwise you would have used it.

you can memtest within windows, you can download the freeware from the net, although doing this means that it will only test the free RAM, i,e, the ram that is not already being utilized by the OS, so it is not as good, but it might through back some errors for clarification

EDIT: ohh you have already tried memtest .. harsh .. looks like borked memory .. try upping the voltage a little and retry, to see if it stabilises and stops throughing back errors.
