Hi,

I have an old hard drive, a 60GB diamondmax (model 5T060H6). I had it in my computer, but my parents needed more hard drive space so I swapped it over to their computer. it worked fine for a few weeks, but then I wasn't bale to write to the disk properly anymore. The disk would start squeaking and clicking and then I'd get a data write error. So I ran powermax on it, but it was unable to find any errors. The question is: Is powermax falliable? anyone ever have a similar experience? is the hard drive actually finished, or if not, does anyone have an idea as to what the actual problem may be?

thanks!

Are you sure the clicking is coming from that drive? If it is then toss the drive.

i have had similar clicking from a hard drive and it turned out to be my power supply. one rail wasn't getting enough juice so i switched the plug with the one in the cd drive and it worked . So after that i went and got me a new power supply. and i'm still using the drive.
