All oldies, but goodies:

Does anyone know the back story/follow up for any of these?

Feel free to add more videos of failed public proposals.

My wife told me I could not, under any circumstances, propose to her on the big board at a 49ers game. So, instead, I did it at one of her graduate classes - I got the whole thing on video, too. I knew she'd say yes since she had designed the ring (she did not know I had it made, yet, though.)

the first one, hahaha.

the look on her face and the way she runs away...he might has well have pulled out his furrie suit on the first date.

'well, he'll probably get over that in....ten or twelve years....'

You don't get to mock other people's failed public proposals if you only did a public proposal when you knew she'd say yes. 😉

OTOH, it's kind of unfair to put a girl in that spot unless you do know she's going to say yes :/

Marriage proposal is not a public affair, and those who treat it as such should know what they're risking.
It's unfair to spring that much pressure on the woman unexpectedly.

This thread has terrible timing. I am about to do a public proposal in less than a week...

But I, like OP, already know the answer will be yes. Still, it's a very nerve-racking time.

Why would you do this? Even if you know the answer will LIKELY be yes, why would you want to take a personal, private moment and put it in front of hundreds/thousands of strangers? I just don't get it.

Why do you think it is a personal, private moment?

Please, you have to tell us WHY you're doing this. Look how many people are saying they don't understand this stuff. You're in a unique position to give us some insight into what the hell could be going through your head to make you do this.

The women in the first two looked like they were caught off guard and felt really awkward. The third just looked pissed. It's as if they weren't a serious couple at all and he was way out of line with that public proposal.

Edit: The guy in the first one looks like "Turtle" from Entourage.

I submit two pieces of evidence for consideration:

1) Facebook.

2) Twitter.

It would seem that sharing everything is becoming more common than not.

@ATOT: Presently scratching itch on right leg.

the only failed marriage proposals are ones where she accepted.

these fools should count their blessings that they are not tied down by nagging with the risk of losing half their fortune. Smart move, guys. the burden of guilt lies on the women now. you get publicity, some girls feel sorry for you......instant Tang.

Lmao at the announcer comments on the 3rd one.

Guys that do public proposals are putting a sudden, immense public pressure on the woman to give the correct answer in order to avoid making an already awkward moment even worse. In essence, you are an ass hole if you do this, particularly if your girl isnt the type that likes to stand out in a crowd.

basically. although most will say 'we had to publicly prove our undying love for each other!' or some bullshit.
