Hello guys... iIve never had any experience with overclocking before. However after reading about it online a lot, I decided to give it at try

On first day I managed to get a stable OC with 42x multiplier at ~1.2 vcc (I wanted to be safe), so ive been using it happily for past few days without any problem, using it extensively for video editing, etc.

But today I decided to be bit more adventurous and wanted to see if I could achieve any higher overclocks, since lot of people seem to have no problem pushing their chip over 4.8ghz.

I set vcc to be around ~1.4v (since it seemed reasonably safe from posts ive read), and raised multiplier by 1x increments and tried to see if I could boot into windows. I didnt seem to have any problem at 48x multiplier which booted into windows just fine. So I restarted my computer and raised it to 49x.

However my computer now fails to boot into windows... the computer's power just shuts down momentarily after initial gigabyte bios boot screen. In addition, i can't lower my clock speed anymore, since for some weird reason now my PC fails to recognize the keyboard (i tried both USB and PS2 keyboards), so I can't even enter bios or change any values.

what should I do?? help please and thanks in advance T_T

There might be an easier method of recovering from a to high overclock, but if all else fails you can unplug the power cord and either
A: find the clear CMOS jumper (check the motherboard manual for location and the proper position to clear the CMOS) dont forget to change it back to the run (or whatever its called position before u plug the PC back in)

or B: take out the CMOS battery for a few seconds then put it back in.

hope that helps

Take the battery out, hold the power button on the case for at least 30 seconds.

Unless you have a "golden" chip the voltages you have been trying are too low, I know you want to be cautious but the safest way would be to stress test at 4.2 and make sure the overclock is rock solid then move up to 4.3 while increasing the voltage until stable again. Going from 4.2 to 4.8 gives you little reference point to decide what voltage the chip will need.

Edit.

Also try another USB port for your keyboard, especially if you are plugged into the front panel port.
