Hi all,

I flashed my ASUS KV8 mobo using the windows flash program. It succesfully flashed and reset. I got a bad check sum error message saying press f1 for bios and f2 for default values or something similiar. i was then in the bios changing the acp 2.0 supoort setting to enable cool n quiet. It then obviously reset. I now have no signal to my monitor just a blank screen !!!

I have tried resetting the bios back to the original using the jumpers on the mb, i have tried this about 4 times but nothing has changed.

I have also tried using f2 etc without a monitor but obviously been struggling as i cant see anything!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance - Please mail me at acarbutt@hotmail.com or gregaswheatley@hotmail.com if you have nay ideas on the answer to this painful problem!

Sorry to say it but your probably screwed, the windows flashing program should have verified the bios as good to avoid this problem. Try a recovery floppy with an autoexec.bat, I dont have a link handy here at work, sorry.

Unplug the computer from the wall, remove the CMOS battery, and now use the jumper to reset the CMOS. Give it about 30 seconds, then reverse the procedure. Any good?

The windows program verified the bios as ok. Which was weird as it blatantly wasnt ok!

I have tried the jumper method several times as posted at the start.

The problem with the floppy dirve method is that the drive is not being accessed ! I have unplugegd all drives and cdroms but still no accessing. I found a great link fo making an autoexec.bat floppy so it runs at boot to flash the bios. Unfortuantly it doesnt read any floppies when booting. I have also tried changing my floppy drive !

Thanks for the initial advice guys, keep it coming.

Cheers

When you cleared the CMOS with the jumper, did you have the computer unplugged and the CMOS battery removed?
It succesfully flashed and reset. I got a bad check sum error message saying press f1 for bios and f2 for default values or something similiar.
From this description, your BIOS flash was successful. That's what happens after a successful flash. Your messing with the ACPI stuff seems to have nuked it. Moral of the story: don't do that again ;)

http://www.badflash.com if all else fails. They can sell you a fresh BIOS chip pre-programmed with the BIOS of your choice.
