I just wanted to thank all the knowledgeable forum heroes who can help me out with this problem. rig info
win xp pro upgrade, maxtor ata drives x 2 run off mobo ide slots directly with 2 slaves pioneer a04 dvr and toshiba dvd rom drive. WD 160 gb ata 133 hd off the pci controller card and since this system was upgraded from win 98se all of drive partitions on maxtors are fat 32. tried to partition the WD HD with 1 partition fat 32 other ntfs. always either one of the partitions will fail and almost always fat 32 with error msg "failed delay write on drive " letter" check network connection, hardware etc. " pls help. I apologize if this question belongs to HD forum but never have I seen this kind of prob with win xp pro and any mobo. There seems to be more problems with VIA chipset mobos compared to nVidia. thank you very much.

I hav had this happen to me with a couple of older maxtor HDs.

I neevr could figure the probelm out...but i believe it's a drive going bad.

I had to replace those drives shortly after i was gettign those errors. Happened with NTFS partions though.

Anyone elase care to help?
