im running winxp home, and just recently, menus that fade take a long time to load. if i try to open the start menu or right click on the desktop, the fading is slow and choppy. i used regedit to make the MenuShowDelay value 0. i restarted and its still choppy. any way to fix this?

I turn the fade off in the"effects" panel in display properties. It's a worthless feature, IMO.

fading is the most annoying feature MS ever pushed into an OS, you want to be able to click fast and DO stuff, not say ooh and aaah at nice fancy bells and whistles ... and gongs if I ever go to fix someones OS (mostly a kazillion spyware items) then the first thing I do is turn off all visual enhancement stuff thinggies.
