I have several receipts for hardware that have become so faded, that it is very difficult to read them and impossible to print them, if I need them for warranty service. Is there a way to restore them? I know that it doesn't apply, but I keep thinking of invisible ink (lemon juice), where heat is used to make it visible.

Sorry. After a year's worth of missed tax breaks due to faded thermal paper receipts, I learned the hard way to photocopy them immediately for my records.

You might just try to photocopy them, the ink might show up better.

Retailers do this on purpose. Along time ago, a receipt would last for decades. Now it fades right after the return date.

Game over.

if you put in a wallet or such it fades even faster.

but i seem to recall the reason it does is not to screw the buyer. Its all about saving money. the thermal paper and print is far cheaper then the old way they had. also a lot faster.

I have a HP AIO, but it can't see anything, even though I can still barely read them with the right light and a magnifying glass.
