On the assimilation front, looks like I'll have another XP1700 running today, and then a Duron 1600 tomorrow. Anyone else got some new additions? Let's keep ahead of TechIMO and pass Ukraine at the same time! :thumbsup:

lol... resurrected an XP1900 this afternoon! w00t! 🙂 It kept locking up when I was booting several months ago when I was still running D2OL... got fed up with it and just kept if off... today, swapped out the ram and had the same problems... unplugged the hd and still had problems... went into the bios and discovered that it got messed up somehow and the IDE table was all set to user with funky stuff in it... set them all back to AUTO, threw in a 'new' 2g drive that I had kicking around, and the Win2K setup is almost done! The 1700 from the early post is a little more embarrasing... the vidcard had come unseated and so it wouldn't boot :roll:

Tomorrow... the Duron 1600! 😀
 
I'm waiting on a P4c800e deluxe from newegg and have a P4 2.6c to put in it, I also have the same mobo rma'd to asus so hopefully I'll be getting that back soon.

Do some calculations, find out how many machines you need to catch up to the production rates.
 
There is the rub right, cancer is the enemy of all mankind. You have to have enough to pass Ukraine and then some to keep from being passed. I don't think you can do that.Out of a lot of projects you can do whats important? I know 6 people who have died from cancer in the last year and a half. If you do your best then maybe you wont get hit, but it is very likely cancer will find you or someone you love. So you wanna look for ET or improve mankinds situation now?

To be honest, I agree with you. I don't think the SETI project is worth it. The people who do it however are well aware of their decision and there's really nothing you can say to change their mind.
 
One man tried to get me involved with seti years ago, I was an Electronic Warfare intercept systems man(that means I was involved in finding communications that was deliberately being hid). While I do feel bad for the way I laughed at him, he didnt understand why. There can be 1000 differant alien species signals out there but if they are not close with very high power we will never pick them up. What I mean by high power is greater output than man has found needed. To each his own but the efforts are complete waste.Every star and planet is a jammer. A good night sky shows billions of jammers!
 
You are free to "choose what you run" as well as what you want to see benifit.
Isn't it great that we can all have this "choice"

I find it to be great that you found yours.
I am also glad so many others are happy crunching their choice of project(s).
If we could only find a cure for cancer, we leave aids, anthrax, and many others out (even in the same project).
If we couldn't process data for d2ol we might never have better technology (pacemakers, gps etc....
what about super conductors and colliders? Are they not important?
I am grateful that there are many projects to choose from, Diversity makes the world go round and gives new teammates a bigger and better choice to help, based on their choices and hardware requirements.

Now... let's see what's lying about here... one ECS N2U400 mobo, one stick of DDR, 4 Athlon XP chips, 2 empty cases... gotta get that supply chain management a little tighter! 😉
