Been awhile since I reported on happenings in the hordes.
As of midnight local time on 8 May, the White Horde (all sections) ceased operations and will no longer be crunching. At the peak, the White Horde consisted of 65 computers (All Intel) that were about 50/50 Pentium III's and Pentium 4's with a few Celerons thrown in. (some of the computers were HT or duals so there were a few more nodes than 65) Over the last couple months I have been steadily reducing the White Horde and at it's demise, it consisted of only a few computers.
I've had a few recent failures and will RMA 3 motherboards this week so that decreases the Golden horde by 3.
This is the normal pattern for those of us who have crunched for a long time. At times, our power ebbs and at other times it flows. I continue to do the best I can with what I have at hand.
Apparently, I came within less than 100,000 points from 5th place (Old Fart) but I was unable to capture it, even momentarily due to the heavy flatulence. :brokenheart: I now trail by a bit more than 400,000 points. I noticed that Old Fart substantially increased production when I got within 200,000 points or so. ROSMAG, et al, are coming up swiftly on my rear so I have a limited window in which to take 5th before they get here. I'll need to do some heavy duty recruiting within a very short time or Old Fart will need to slow down for me to get to 5th. 😱
I anticipate a further ebb within a few weeks that will last until late August.
Even with the ebb, my production still cannot be claimed to be insignificant. Who knows what the future holds. It is possible that I will find enough power to have a second wind that will carry me to heights that even I cannot imagine at this time. :beer::wine::sun::moon:
