Thanks mondobyte! :)

I'm starting to migrate my systems over to the R@H project since the FaD project is nearly done, my numbers will slowly decrease. It's been a pleasure working with all of you on the FaD TeAm! :D

Is their a chance that we may drop a spot in the overall standings? If their is, I can switch a few systems back. Right now I only have three systems running FAD right now.

Thanks Mondo...if our production stays about where we are now, we should be able to comfortably maintain 5th place.

I will be crunching FAD til after thanksgiving, then I will be switching to Rosetta.

I am thinkng that the number of folks crunching FAD will steadily decline until they pull the plug.

I am guessing that the job queues will run dry sometime soon ... at that point ... I will switch over to something else ... but I can assure everyone that I will be running FaD until the end ...

I suspect that some will abandon FaD ... but I also believe from looking at the current status of the queries that there is plenty of work to be done for a long while ...

I would request that all of my teammates continue FaD until the queues do run dry ... lets finish the job ... not leave it hanging ...

If you folks are interested in retaining me as a team member ... well let's just say that I am not a quitter ... no sour grapes about FaD ending ... but I am not going to throw in the towel ... I'll go the full set of rounds ... I account for more than 20% of the the daily output ... without me on the team ... there is no prayer that this team will retain 5th ... come on folks ... lets finish this properly and proudly.

The sooner that we suck those queues dry ... the sooner ALL of us can move on to other projects.

Thanks

Mondo, I will leave one rig on FAD until the bitter end, the other two I will have to switch off since I will not have accesss to them again until January...don't like to see the cycles wated for a month after the end of FAD.

I am curious to know when they will stop giving out jobs? If they are shutting it all down Dec 16th, one would assume they would stop giving jobs about a week earlier???

That would be my guess as well ... about a week or maybe two before the cutoff for accepting results on 16 December.

I would agree with your plan to move those inaccessible computers to another project.

Thanks for your positive response ...

Just to clarify, I am NOT leaving the FaD TeAm, just moving a few clients over to R@H. Sorry if it sounded that way. I'll be here through the end with some crunching power, just a hair less, but still plenty. :)

Well, I guess I better explain that my comment was not meant to be a threat.

I have noticed a lot of folks moving computers from FaD to other projects. I feel like some of my teammates are taking me for granted ... that they presume my continued daily production will more or less guarantee us a finish at 5th for the team. My perspective is that they believe it "releases" them from the need to finish FaD and they are all jockeying to get onto another project and get ahead of the pack that follows. If we all felt like it was worthwhile to crunch FaD [at a why aren't we all willing to just go the extra month or so and finish it off?

I can presume that as the project winds down, there will be several folks switching teams for bragging rights that they were on a top team (human nature). There will be a lot of heavy recruiting by teams get that next rank before it ends. A few choice recruitments by teams lagging us could have major implications for our finish especially if we assume that the current status quo will persist and we become a stationary target (because of loss of new production)!

That is what I am saying.

I will be keeping all my machines on FaD until I stop getting work, or the official end date arrives... whichever comes first.
