Thanks for the stats Freewolf

Congrats Rebel_Alliance ... great performance.

Independence day fireworks in St. Louis were fantastic. The air show after dark with the plane launching pyrotechnics (fireworks) was amazing and the river barge based fireworks were absolutely stupendous!

The weather was also incredible ... 91 degree high but with only 35% humidity ... probably a record for Saint Louis. It was hot ... but is was a "dry heat"! Extremely rare for St. Louis. I have seen several July 4th weekends when the temps were high and the humidity was outa sight (can you spell virga!) I've actually seen virga over the fireworks displays ... I could actually see the Illinois side fo the river very clearly. Usually, it would be hidden by a "steamy white" haze. Temps in the high 90's and hunidity higher than that are the norms here. This was a phenonmenal evening fireworks display -- both from a weather perspective and also from a fireworks spectacular display perspective.

Really incredible ... just like the Rebel_Alliance.

Hoooo Rahhh!

Thanks for the stats Freewolf.

Weather for fireworks tonight in Houston will not be as good, predicting a high of 97 with a heat index of 110 or better...too damn hot...although I have the smoker going already for a bbq at the housr this afternoon.

homebrewed 's for all!!!

Thanks for the stats Jim!

My herd takes it's 2nd-to-last hit today as I'm unplugging the remaining machines at work... that leaves me with 3 at home and 3 here at work (one is my office desktop, one is the stats server, and the other is the backup stats server... the last two being dual 1800 & 1900 machines respectively). 🙁

Well I fixed an athlon 2400+ today a compaq presario 54020wm
it only had 128mb ram though of ddr 2100 ewwww
seems the mobo was shorting out, a few new spacers and all is good.

The agp slot is unused and 16mb of video alloted make it a very slow computer, built in sound as well.

It looks like my old standby may be fixable as well, alas poor yorick may live again!!!

add to that the great Geoffs has hooked me up and I might just kick the dust up a smidge 😛

Add more ram to it and the speed will improve.
You're kicking butt Mike

I told him to do that as the athlon 2400+ isn't mine.

A friend dropped it and another computer off for repair.

The first was an athlon 1300 iirc that had a bad hdd.Since it had 2, I just formatted the back up drive (was empty) and added windows to it.

The second was a "take your time, there is no rush" RUSH Job. I got called 3 times in 2 days (the first day they were happy to get the other one back, calls began on the second day). I finally turned off the phone, LOL.

It took me 3.5 days to figure out what was causing the freezes.

It also has 2 (out of 4, I informed him as well) bad usb ports, So I taped those 2 off as well.

Keep in mind this is the same kind folks that blamed me for the sound not working (I gave them the benifit of the doubt and drove over to their house 30 miles away) When I got there he had the speakers plugged into the system, but never knew it also had to be plugged into the wall socket. *SIGH*

He did apologize when he called me about these repairs though.😛

I had quit doing things for them a while back, after he argued about how to install the software for the cdrw's I had installed (it was already installed, he deleted the drivers as well as a bunch of the system 32 drivers trying to "get it to work". I reinstalled windows and drivers 4 times in one week before I told him he would have to take it somewhere else, since he wouldn;t quit deleting the same files.

it was a nice quiet time for the 2 years he didn't call lol

I would install fad on it but I am afraid that would be disasterous.

As it is windows hits the pagefile everytime you load anything more than spider solitaire.

Another Holiday chore done 😛

Before you go saying that its too much to put up with (got that from the wife) understand its all about the tinkering 😛

Mike

That's a shame since he has maybe 96 megs of free ram after the on board video takes what it needs and yes I have friends like that.
