FaD - Hey ... we need some more team spirit and conversation here

Hey folks, this forum is rather dead for FaD ... time to add some activity and conversation if we want to attract new members. ....

Hey ... how about "telling" us about your herd of computers crunching FaD or some such ...

Lets get some conversations going here ...

I could not agree more.

The generation of the stats has been very inconsistent lately as I also feel that that spirit is not there. We could not even generate excitement over giving away a free XP 2400+ sytem 🙁

Here is a quick blurb on my rigs.
- dual 2.0 GHz Opteron
- P4 2.4c, also running Windows Media Center
- Athlon 1GHz
- Dual 2.8 GHz Xeon
- P4 2.8 GHz
- P4 2.8 GHz
- P4 2.8 GHz
- P4 2.0 GHz
- P3 1.0 GHz
- P3 1.0 GHz
- dual XP 2400+ Athlon
- dual XP 2400+ Athlon
- dual XP 2000+ Athlon

The RA has just five machines running FaD at this time
1 x 2700xp
1 x 2600xp
2 x 2000xp
1 x 2.4 p4 hyperthreaded.

Well, let's see:

1 XP2500+ @ 2.2 GHz (soon to be two since my brother needs a new computer)
1 XP200+ @ 1.67 GHz

1 XP1800+ @ 1.53 GHz (not sure on how often or if this still runs)
1 Athlon @ 1.2 GHz (same with this one)

1 Duron @ 1.3 GHz (only runs from time to time)
1 Athlon @ 690 MHz (same)
1 PIII @ 733 MHz (same)

I should really ask bout the XP1800+ and Athlon 1.2 GHz and see what's up with them.

Edit: Also, a P4 @ 3.06 GHz that runs from time to time

I am known as TA_FREEBIRD for FaD. I have three rigs on this project. XP2400 180 rating, XP 1800 153 rating (OC), 1400 Tbird 115 rating. Just uploaded a whopper today, I have another at 95%. I got the 1800 registered properly. It had done 15 jobs that I recieved no credit for. I hope I get those back. EDIT The job I uploaded today was worth 26,000 points. That`s pretty good I think.

my humble crew of FaD crunchers:

1 x XP 2000+
1 x P4 3.0 HT (running 2 instances of FaD)

ive got 3 massive jobs that ive been working on for 10 days or more each that should net us some huge points. the 1hyv-q3 HIV units are the big ones and i loaded up my queues with a bunch of those so i see there being 2 months more of good processing for me with those puppies!

Yup... Lets stir it up a bit...

I have various workstations running FaD, mostly AMD 2400's

I do have a trial going with APPRO (www.appro.com) for a new cluster for me. The test boxes are 8 Dual Opteron 248s and 8 Dual Xeon 3ghz. FOr a total of 32 processors... I'll paste the current runnings below.

BTW: APPRO Rocks... Blade server, looks like they are going to get my business. I have a Microway test next week for 16 Dual Xeons (I think 16 maybe only 8). But so far APPRO is doing a fabulous job.

FYI: I set all my computers to run Proteome, I needed the extra molecules to get my stats right, the 1q41 molecules are taking these boxes an average of 2 hours each... Cranking out about 100 every 6 hours now. Woo. hoo...

Look at the stats, then put dringdahl in for the graph, you'll see how nice these boxes are.

Linux command (./stats -list | grep %) give this for working boxes.

What is FaD CPU rating for the AMD 64 bit processors ? Are CPU ratings listed somewhere? There seems to be some very heavy hitters on this team.

I was getting in the 400's before the newest release, which doesnt show CPU ratings anymore.

Mondo is the heavy hitter of the team right now.

As mondo pointed out, we still need more power scotty... 🙂

I'm starting to feel, we need mondo to be our team Captain...

Yeah ... I have the hordes at 7 sites in 4 states! Have to keep them organized somehow 😉

As to being Team Captain ... be careful what you folks wish for

:beer::beer::beer::beer:

i vote for both of you  you both represent us well and your dedication to this project is far and beyond anyone elses!

i vote for dringdahl and Mondo for captian. or co-captain. or whatever. 🙂

as for my systems, i had to stop running FaD on my PIII 800 laptop. my PIII 666 desktop is still crunching for FaD, but that will get replaced when i finish my AMD XP 3000+ system. but i'll crunch with both if i get a KVM kit or something. 😉

Use TightVNC ... it's free and simple to use!

If you are running Windows XP, you can also use Remote Console.

No need to buy a KVM

id just like to say that ive got 3 massive jobs that ive been working on for over 14 days on and i cant wait to upload these babies! with my luck, ill have a massive power outage that will cook my hard drive and destroy my progress or something 😕
