With the SETI project winding down, I've decided to bring one of my crunchers over to FAD. What's the best settings/methods to run the client? Do you guys have an optimal setup guide for the FAD client? How do I join the TeAm? I just installed and it says "Snoozing". How do I make it run ALWAYS in the background?

Anything else you can tell me would be appreciated. I'm experienced with DC, but I've only run SETI and RC5 in the past. I like the premise of this project and it looks like TA could use some help here. :)

OK, I think I have it mostly figured out now. I have it running all the time and I think I joined the TeAm. I have the screen go blank after 3 min (like SETI). I'd still appreciate any other tips.

Hi

I just started FAD myself yesterday and I'm certainly NOT an expert but I have fumbled around and figured out a few things and it seems to run just fine for me so far.

A few things I've done or set:

1)Set view to stick for fastest speed (I couldn't stand it though and I set it for line which may cost a percent or two in speed but it sure looks better)
2)If you like to look at the graphics once in a while, make the box no bigger than a 1/4 of your screen, larger and it seems to slow the client.
3)As I'm sure you've figured out, in setup/general...enter 2039 for Team Anandtech, then push update.
4)I set the CPU speed to 2G+ and it downloaded 4 jobs, I then tried 4Ghz+ and it downloaded 75 jobs, which gives a better buffer I believe. You can always highlight a finished job in your Queue (or shift/highlight for multiple jobs) and click SEND to upload.
5)In planned connections, I have set it to "selecting all jobs" (I'm on cable) and after leaving it most of the day, I came home and it had finished 5 jobs and had uploaded them just fine.
6)For "Think Graphics" I have it set to "Window" My screensaver is set to "None" and my power settings are HD Never and monitor to turn off after 10 minutes, I have heard the screensaver is slower (like SETI) (running XP)

So that's it from a total of one day's experience! (your mileage mat vary) :)

It seems to run fast for me, however I'm new to this and hope someone posts here to correct me where needed!!

I did figure out how to make it run with no graphics, just send it to the sys tray. Graphics always slowdown DC projects. All my PC's are either on T1 or broadband 24/7. I didn't noticed the CPU setting, I'll take a look at that when I get back to work.

Thanks! :)
