Fact or fiction? Emails will cost money.

I've heard this multiple times but never heard an actual date for it to be set. I've gotten emails and heard rumors but will it really happen? I think that it would be bogus and if it does happen, it should be a part cost with the ISP.

Ah, thank you geekender, forgot about urban legends. :) I guess it does fall under that category.

it would be a good idea to charge 3-5 cents an email. i think it would cut down the spam and all that junk that gets mailed to u.

Yes, or a more reasonable 1/2 to 1 cent -- normal users would pay their ISP an extra $3 month for 20 emails/day, but spammers would pay $5K-10K to spam 1 million, wiping out their profit from the tiny precentage of morons that fall for their scams.

Short of taking up a collection to hire a bunch of Irish kneecappers, it's probably the best hope for cutting down spam.
