Facetime issue

Working on a Yosemite MBP, 2011 and almost every-time I come back and open my laptop from sleep mode and use Facetime the audio doesn't work properly. Facetime will connect but I can't hear the other person speaking and the Facetime audio cracks. They can hear me but I can't hear them.

Rebooting seems to clear the issue.

Any idea what is causing this?

Try creating a new user account and see if the problem persists with that user account. That helps determine if it's a software issue or a hardware issue.
