I like to use Facebook to check on how my relatives are doing overseas. But the last few months, my access to Facebook has been sluggish. I thought that they're probably just upgrading their servers. However, at work and at a local hotel hotspot, I'm able to access Facebook without any delays.

On my machine, Facebook is hit or miss. Sometimes the Photos section do not load completely. When I do click on a photo, it takes a couple seconds for it to appear.

I did a tracert to Facebook, and this is what I got. Is yours comparable? I'm a FIOS user.

What browser do you use,and what addons do you have installed? FB uses a lot of trackers and ad servers, sometimes blocking those results in FB acting more wonky than usual.

Interesting. I just use the plain jane version of Google Chrome in incognito mode. I don't have any add-ons.

14 hops for me slightly quicker response time, but nothing to write home about.

I've been using OpenDNS for years now.... Anyway, I think picking a DNS server will only speed up one's initial access to a site. Once a domain name is translated to IP and the client knows where to route the packets, then DNS should not have any additional effects ... unless of course DNS servers are able to spit out multiple IPs associated with a single domain and the IP that one gets is multiple hops away.
