Facebook Millionaires (e. g. graffiti artist probably now worth $200 million)

"In 2005, Mr. Choe was invited to paint murals on the walls of Facebook’s first offices in Palo Alto, Calif., by Sean Parker, then Facebook’s president. As pay, Mr. Parker offered Mr. Choe a choice between cash in the “thousands of dollars,” according to several people who know Mr. Choe, or stock then worth about the same.

Mr. Choe, who has said that at the time that he thought the idea of Facebook was “ridiculous and pointless,” nevertheless chose the stock.

Many “advisers” to the company at that time, which is how Mr. Choe would have been classified, would have received about 0.1 to 0.25 percent of the company, according to a former Facebook employee. That may sound like a paltry amount, but a stake that size is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, based on a market value of $100 billion. Mr. Choe’s payment is valued at roughly $200 million, according to a number of people who know Mr. Choe and Facebook executives."

Talk about being in the right place at the right time...

(realistically, though, it is probably like buying 1 lottery ticket and then hitting huge jackpot with no other winners. Myself, if I had that choice way back then (not knowing what Facebook would become), I would have taken the cash and just be kicking myself now anyways (shoulda, woulda, coulda...)

Reminds me of Ronald Wayne who founded Apple Computer with the Steve Jobs and the other Steve. He gave up his 10% stake in the company for $2300 which today would be worth $35 billion

He didn't earn any of it, and the fact that he has it means that that somebody else no longer has the opportunity to succeed.

I wish I grew up with a silver spoon like this kid.

Chances are anybody jumping into this IPO has a bunch of extra money not serving a purpose anyway.

NO one 'earns' $200million, at least not by their own 'honest hard work'.

This guy has earned his riches as much as anyone else, why would you be bothered by it?

He did however trade his honest hard work for a lottery ticket, and it has really paid off for him.

All I'm saying is that he needs to pay his fair share. He didn't earn any of it, so why should the government let him keep it? He owes a debt to society for allowing him to be in the position he is in, so he needs to pay up.

That's pretty short-sighted of you.

He's owned the stock for quite a while, so a lot of his 'profit' is really just inflation, and it's not very fair to get taxed on that.

Yep and the governments fair share will be 15% when he cashes out...

People, PeshakJang is a hardcore conservative. He's parodying.

You're wrong, I've seen the light. Obama's last speech was right. Jesus would have given the money away, so government should help make sure he does that.

He did no work, and got everything handed to him, now that he is mega rich. This means that there is less opportunity for people like me to succeed. Why should I try, right? He owes a debt to me. I helped provide the society that allowed him to get this lucky... It could have been anybody... So he needs to repay his debt.

I'd say he only really needs like $1,000,000 to live quite comfortable, so the rest can go to repaying his debt. Obama said that's what Jesus would do.

Government shouldn't make sure he does anything. It's his money. Anyways you are obviously trolling so have fun.
