Ok so I generally dislike facebook but this is just funny. I'm also glad someone finally called Apple out on the whole "use trademarked names and deal with the lawsuit later" attitude they tend to have. ( i know this isn't about names but it's the same attitude of do what we want and deal with the law later)

Facebook blocks apple's use of their API

Apparently during the Apple presentation Facebook integration was talked about and pictures were shown with the feature included in iTunes etc, and afterwards Facebook just blocked it from working.

Apple should be familiar with this. Go against the terms-of-service, get yanked. ;)

^ wow the fanboism is strong in this one.

I'm not a fanboy of either product. If the agreement was just based on "keeping data private", I don't see how this could have fallen through. It sounds like Facebook wanted some piece of the pie...and Apple (in typical "I'm Steve Jobs, I don't have to do anything anyone says") decided not to do it. Facebook got their panties in a wad and revoked all access. They'll iron it out eventually, but in the mean time we both lose (I guess...I really could care less about this service).

The difference between Palm and Apple is Apple had 50 billion in the bank and Palm couldn't swim to save its life.

whoa there, sorry that I found this amusing, if you don't want to read something bad about Apple, don't click on the thread a really simple solution.

Also you don't need to post everything bad about Google/Facebook other forum members already take care of that for you.

What does this have to do with Gadgets, Gear and phones? This should be in the Apple forum or the software forum - or even ATOT. Oh yea any opportunity to flame apple around this sub-forum by the phanboys has to be taken advantage of.

iTunes and Facebook are like too sides of the same turd.

So anytime someone makes a thread about anything Apple related it should go in the Apple forum?

Sounds good to me. It will clean this forum up a ton.

If it has to do with their iDevices specifically then it could be posted here or the apple forums because either place would be relevant. This is about Facebook and iTunes. Last time I checked iTunes is standalone software and Facebook exists outside of the mobile world. There are plenty of people who use both on their computers and not on their mobile phones or other "gadgets". And then there are people like me who don't use iTunes at all even though I have an iPhone, and will never even touch Facebook.

This should be posted in the software section or ATOT I think, but Apple forum would have been relevant as well. The reason it was posted here is clear, but don't let me get in the way of this sub-forums underlining agenda to "prove" how the iPhone is inferior.

its prob because of where i live & work but ive never seen someone using one, numerous kindle and nook users however

Honestly I have to agree with you, I see more Kindles then any other eBook type reading device on the light rail which I take every morning. But I see more iPhones / iPods than anything else by a very, very significant margin. I see probably 10 iDevices for every other gadget - whether thats a kindle or a different type of MP3 player, the occasional disc-man or even the rare and ancient walkman. I have probably seen 1-2 iPad's. Not sure who is buying them.

I think most stay at home, I have one in the bedroom (LOL, I fall asleep with a streamed NetFlix movie every night) and carry the 3G iPad with me to work, so it has a permanent place in my bag.

Yeah...we've had this discussion a bunch of times before. iTunes works on so many devices that discussions about it could go in basically any sub-forum. It even works on Android devices, so if there was an Android subforum then it could go there.

I have still never seen an iPad in person..but then again I don't look. I can pretty confidently say that the majority of people I know do own at least one iDevice (thats just an awesome term). I don't know anyone personally that owns a Kindle or Nook.

I see a fair number of iPads on planes.

A couple of weeks ago I was flying back from California and there were three iPads in our 8 person aisle on the plane. I could look to my left and see them all lined up. And when I get up to walk around, I tend to see a fair number of them.

As far as whether this discussion is on topic... I think it is. I call it as I see it... and I see this one as being relevant to GG&P. Even if it doesn't have to do specifically with a gadget, iTunes is used primarily with gadgets.

Yeah, a tablet is a nice form factor for a plane, as well as other travel. I've seen a couple iPads on planes. When I stayed at the beach last weekend I thought, 'wouldn't it be nice to just have a tablet instead of this huge freaking laptop.' I really want one with a standard sd slot, or at least a usb port. I think it's kind of ridiculous to need an adapter to transfer photos to it. It's just one more thing that can be forgotten.

I think this is the perfect thread to come clean in:

I entered Rush Limbaugh's drawing for a free iPad and was really hoping I'd win one.

Maybe out of necessity, I feel sorry for anyone who uses iTunes on a PC other then if they "feel that they have to" and are unaware that they don't have to via jailbreaking. Actually, I feel sorry for anyone on an iDevice that isn't jailbroken, but I guess that is all beside the topic point.

Why do you feel sorry for people that don't have their ios device jailbroken?

I am also curious, I think I have seen you mention this general opinion maybe 3-4 times, and I don't recall ever seeing you explain it.
