Anyone else noticing a pick up in spam related things on Facebook?

The other day I got a spam e-mail about some online pharmacy.

And then today I got two friend requests from people I don't know and don't have any mutual friends with.

Both single females with generic looking profiles (which are hidden of course) and both went to generic named schools that give you no sense of where they are located.

I am guessing that they are both porn bots and that the second I become their friend I'll get an invite to see their 'secret pictures' etc etc

Am I the only one seeing this up tick?
I wonder if it is related to the hacking of Facebook passwords etc.

You mean Facebook wasn't full of spam before the spambots showed up?

There was a report recently of like 100 million users getting their accounts hijacked, so yeah expect spamming to go up. Not surprising though, a lot facebook users are easy prey for phishing and scamming in general.

I don't like that they've made it so you can't block people from sending friend requests now, as this was helpful in keeping spammers and bots from trying to add you. I also wish people on there didn't add literally every person that sends them a friend request. There's way too many people that do that. I would have stopped using Facebook a long time ago if they didn't give you so much control over what you deal with (blocking apps, people, etc). Unfortunately it seems like they're slowly removing that, like the aforementioned inability to block getting friend requests, but also pretty much forcing people to join groups via liking stuff like your school/job/hometown/etc.
