Facebook account and contact linking for Apple iOS?

I am a long time iPhone user but spent 3 weeks testing out a new Nexus One before getting an iPhone 4 this week and had a question on the facebook app. On the Android version, you can manually link your contacts to their facebook account if the automated script doesn't link the two together. Is there any way to do the same thing on iOS?

I tinkered around a little with it and even went so far as to put the fb://profile/friend ID number link into the web page field on the Outlook contact (which appears to be all the facebook app does) but it didn't work.

Any suggestions?

I can't find any way of doing this manually if it doesn't do it automatically. Updates to the facebook app have come along slowly as well, so I'm not sure if it'll be fixed any time soon =/

Thanks, I guess we'll just keep waiting for even the most basic features to be added to the facebook app. You'd think that with over 500 million active users, a decent percentage of whom probably have smartphones, that facebook would get with the program a little better.

Yeah, but being a free app that doesn't pull the ad revenue that the browser version does I don't think there's much incentive for them to keep it up to date. Bastards took months just to make it able to read NOTES ffs. To be honest I didn't even realize the app had that sync feature at all, or at least wasn't aware that it update pictures. I figured it just grabbed the numbers that people had on facebook.

Facebook app let you sync with your contract book..previous verison of Facebook does sync wonderfully until latest version of Facebook messed up. Hope3 Facebook will fix it as soon as possible.

The iPhone Facebook is a bit of a buggy mess right now but it does allow you to sync contacts. The only problem I had is some of my friends never updated their info, so I ended up with a bunch of old phone numbers.

Facebook sync on the iPhone is not nearly as good as on the android devices. Android also syncs their birthdays and contact info. Then it takes the birthdays and puts them in your calendar. Lastly it doesn't shrink the contact photo ID.

Basically the android sync is much better which is weird cause the faceebook app for the iPhone is way better.
