Was watching the movie Face Off......

Around 1:36, Sasha kisses a dying drug dealer (her brother!) passionately on the mouth as she flees a shooting scene.

Around 1:53, Sasha says "he killed my brother..."

What in the world?

John Woo cannot direct a quality American movie. Face/Off is a prime example of his lack of skill. You are analyzing and interpreting too much.

Well, her brother did die for her. I think she loved him?

Face/Off was a good movie. And I take it you haven't seen Mission Impossible II or Hostage? Paycheck, maybe?

More proof to back up Modeps opinion. Don't forget Broken Arrow and Windtalkers.

Dare I say Hard Boiled is over-rated? It's definitely help elevate action films, but it's highly over-rated.

I've seen Face-Off and MI2. I've also seen Broken Arrow, but that movie was SO bad that I try to block it from memory.

Do Broken Arrow and the other movies you mentioned also have over the top slow motion dove scenes?

If you mean 'dive' scenes, then I believe so, but someone more familiar with Woo's "work" can interject. Windtalker, from what I remember, has the typical over-dramatic, slow-mo death scene. Just awful, all of his stuff.

No, I mean doves as in the white birds.

Anymore, if I see John Woo being related to something I know to stay away from it. I don't know why exactly, but pretty much all of his films that I've seen I find really irritating. M:I 2 was the best film I've seen from him, but its not really an enjoyable movie to watch and the first and third ones are much better in my opinion. I remember back a while ago when I used to read EGM and they worshipped John Woo. Eventually I noticed that several of the movies he's directed were not my cup of tea. It wasn't until just now that I see several of his movies that I found irritating that I didn't even know he had anything to do with and so it makes sense now why I don't like them.

And Nicholas Cage didn't want to bang his hot gf/wife the entire length of the movie.

See, it's not all believable.

Every movie John Woo does is absolutely horrible. He has no skill to direct good acting, he focuses on the action scenes and assumes that will carry the movie. Yuck. As soon as I see he's involved with a movie, I know to not watch it at all.

I've seen MI2 and Paycheck... they were both trash.

Hostage? I wouldn't consider that a movie. Did you actually watch it, or did you just goto IMDB to look to see what other things Woo has directed?

The only american movie Woo directed that was okay was Hard Target, and that was only because I saw it while I was going through a "OMG VAN DAMME IS AWESOMEZ! BLOODSPORT RUELSZ!" phase.

I guess it was a way to show that they may have had an unhealthy sibling relationship. I mean Cage's character was supposed to be insane. So why is it so ridiculous to belive he would have incestual relationship with his sister.

Wasn't there a similar situation in Gladiator?

I own it, and like it. I guess everyone is different.
