Fabricated rumors by pro-war people?

I would like verification on an alleged statement by Hans Blix

"If the intelligence is correct and Iraq is firing these undeclared and illegal missiles it appears this war is more justified than several countries thought"

I would like to believe he said this as I support our troops and hope for more international support as well. But I'm not naive to trust everything said in the pro-war thread, especially by our local internet army generals who gets ecstatic with any news of war and jump on rumors to fuel their own jingoistic momentum.

I asked ToBeMe who quoted this numerous times over pm's but he couldn't back it up aside from his own anecdotal story of hearing it on tv.

Can someone please cite a verifiable source? Thanks

Please post about this in the appropriate Stickied thread at the top of the forum.

I am intrigued by your notions of jingoistic momentum theory and its practical applications and wish to subscribe to your newsletter...

hey............good luck to you!🙂 I hope it is found......................so many things have been said in interviews on TV in the last few days it is almost immpossible to post all and to be honest, as many others have since this begun, I posted what my wife and I saw being said on TV...............sorry if this upsets you......................I know as does my wife and others what was said and your choice not to beleive it is your right!🙂

more seriously, the quote might be true, but was in response to initial (incorrect) reports of Iraq firing scud long-range missiles. If you check CNN you'll see they turned out to be "legal" short-range missiles instead.

calbear- Blix said something along the lines of that, but I am not sure exactly how it was phrased. I heard the actual interview and will look for a transcript for you.

Wow your tone over pm's was so much more flagrant. Glad to see you're trying to maintain a better image in a public thread.

It doesn't upset me btw... I will be the first one to rejoice that Blix is admitting his oversight.

    Hi,
Can you please let me know if you do find an article on this quote? PM, preferably since I am getting tired of alistar and grasshopper filling this thread with pages of junk.

I won't be near a tv for the next 24 hours. I'd appreciate it if you would let me know.

    Thanks

It is true. I heard the actual interview. It wasn't phrased exactly as it has been quoted here, but that is basically what he said.

Please, ... people who are willing to back their claims are researching this now. If you're not willing to contribute, please stay out.

Well thanks for looking.

Blix's words do influence world opinion.

If someone posts a direct exact quote with important ramifications, he should do so with a disclaimer that he misquoted him (purposely?) and heard it on tv.

<flame suit on>

Yeah, the 1998 bombing of Afghanistan and the invasion of Iraq 10 years ago really proved that point, didn't they? They sure prevented any further lives being lost.

The idea that war now = peace later is faulty logic. War now = continuing war later.
