When you're doing laundry which do you use/prefer using fabric softener or dryer sheets?

Late edit...
I have used both and would prefer to use dryer sheets on my normal everyday clothes but for things like say bed sheets, dress clothes, and what not I'll use fabric softener as my washer will add it on last rinse so I don't have to wait around to add it.

liquid fabric softener is the biggest scam ever perpetuated on the american public.

dryer sheets are good for getting rid of cling or freshening up shit you don't feel like washing. so they can be useful, but not for softening fabric.

My wife has used both in the past. I believe she prefers the dryer sheets, as that is what we have been buying for the past few months.

Wife = home Economics major in college. According to here education, liquid fabric softener is useless (unless you somehow can add it in at the last rinse, which some new washer's do, and all other devices do not - no matter what they claim).

Dryer sheets are where it's at. way cheaper than fabric softener, even if you can add it at the right time.

wtf...Home Economics major in college?

is that a Mormon thing?

I use dryer sheets to do one thing: prevent static. It's annoying as hell pulling out clothes and constantly getting shocked because the clothes are loaded with static. Dryer sheets prevent this.

Both are just different ways to deliver emulsified animal fat to give your clothes a "softer" feel and prevent static, right?
