Really, it did! Got the game a couple of days ago. Played it for a couple of hours, system locked up, rebooted it and now it says disc is bad. Tried another game and the system either doesn't load or locks up. This 360 is just over a year old and is the better version (Jasper?). now most of my games will either freeze or it goes back to dashboard. I am returning the game as the rim of the disc feels rubbery, like they used rubber glue to merge the dvd layers, but am concerned about putting this game on my other 360. Also, how the hell do i get my newer 360 repaired? Is MS responsible for this being their game probably borked my xbox?

The game should contain no data which modifies the operation of your 360. It may be possible that somehow you got ahold of a corrupted version of the beta firmware scheduled for release tomorrow.

Your DVD drive tracking might have gone out. Do you install games to the hard drive, or let the disc whine for hours on end while it spins away?

No. I played the game from dvd up until lastnight when it kept locking up on me, then I installed to the hd and it ran fine until this morning when it would load up then give me the splash screen saying cant read disc. Funny thing tho, even tho it says cant read disc the game continues loading in the background. Since last night none of my games are playing right. Random freezes, load back to dashboard all sorts of weirdness. I also received a message from xbox live saying that something was wrong with live a nd to go online for more info. Anyway, I had fable 3 replaced and will setup my backup xbox and see whats up with my main one. Really sucks as I am getting no indication lf hw failure. No redrings, no grinding noises, no nada except the weirdness explained above.

Nope, all stock. I put up my spare xbox and it works just fine. Just received the update this morning and it seems to be ok. I will put back the borked one an see if the update "fixes" it.

Nope, it is in a cyecle that says "Cant read update from HD". all the time now. HD works perfect on other xbox as well as all of my games. Even without a HD the xbox wont update or boot to dashboard. Tried the reset thing and its all the same. Got some 23ef-3143-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx status code and a quick google reveals BS. Guess i have to call MS.

Wow, so I call MS and tell them all the details. My system is out of warranty and they want 119 bucks for a repair. I tell them that it happened because of the update fubared it. The tech said for me to force a red-ring as that still has 2 years on it. Unbelievable....

Using your xbox killed it. Fable 3 isn't the cause. sounds like your DVD drive was toasted.

It sucks dude...sorry.

Um, you basically got express authorization from Microsoft to intentionally break your own xbox to get it repaired for free, if I'm reading your post correctly.

You should be thankful that you got such a "nice" tech. If I were his boss, I would fire him.
