Fable 3 Announced

Apparently, this was the only real announcement out of MS for Gamescom. No word on price cuts for the 360.

The other announcement is that they are going to try a pay as you play experiment with Fable II. The first chapter of Fable II will be free. To continue playing, you have to purchase each subsequent chapter of the game or go ahead and buy the whole game. No word on pricing but it makes for an interesting experiment.

Loved Fable 2, I played the hell out of that game, it's probably by favorite game on the XBox 360 ever.

I was extremely disappointed with Fable 2.... I never even finished it. I will eventually, but I just got bored with it so quickly. You didn't even have to try to become ridiculously rich, combat was simple, and the story didn't pull me in. There were cool things about it, but I enjoyed Fable 1 so much and I just had too high of expectations for Fable 2. If I hadn't expected so much more I guess I'd have been happy with it. It's hard for me to get excited about Fable 3 though after Fable2.

Prettty much my feelings also. Fable 2 is just so bland and uninteresting, and many of the game mechanics only serve to pull you further out of the world (I loathe the dialogue and quest system). Also, it runs like crap and has so much HDR/Bloom you can't see ten feet in front of you.

But you get to play with a dog 🙂.

I actually really enjoyed Fable 2, but I think it was a bit over rated. The whole vegan thing kind of pissed me off too 🙂.

Loved F2. I'm glad it wasn't just the standard RPG. About it being easy, I'm glad it wasn't about forcing you to boringly grind to level up so you can fight a boss, like traditional RPG. Or the generally boring dungeon crawl to get gold. Some players love it, I don't, and get bored of the grinds. There was enough aspects to make it different and fun, the marrying, real estate...etc, without ever really forcing you to do anything.

Can't wait for Fable 3.

I was fooled into believing the hype and bought Fable 1 on launch day for $50. Beat the game in literally ten hours (Fable 1 is the original "Ten Hour Special"), traded it in to EB for like $35 the next day. With Fable 2, I wised up and only rented it. Beat it almost as quickly, never wanted to play it again. Fable 3 is a definite pass for me, especially with this "pay to play" garbage.

Just curious - how long did you find Oblivion and Fallout 3?
