I ordered a ASUS F8SN-C1 from xoticpc. Today they called me and told me that the F8SN-C1 had been discontinued and so they were switching my order to a F8SV-B1. After looking up some benchmarks it looks like the F8SV-B1 is actually the slowest of all these options. In addition, according to this http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=272679 it has a bit less battery power too (though none of this have very good battery life).
I will be using this for classes, however I have a few friends who are already attending the same university as I am, and all of them say that battery life is not a problem because power outlets are available almost everywhere. Because of this I would like to have a notebook capable of playing the occasional game. Price isn't really an issue between these three notebooks.
F8VA-B1
M50VM-B1
Things I like about the F8:
Smaller and a bit lighter
Nicer design (I prefer the silver housing around the keyboard and the lack of the weird "media control" buttons on the mouse.)
Same resolution on a smaller screen
Things I like about the M50:
More powerful (video card especially)
Three of my friends have the ASUS M50 Series M50Sa-AK023CM50 and the performance for most games seems fine to me. Of course with the new M50 out, not much point in buying that model except for the higher resolution screen.
Because of that I thought that the F8VA-B1 would be fine, but after watching some videos of CoD4 comparing the VA-B1 and an overclocked (assuming this wouldn't matter much as a big overclock would be unpractical considering it is a laptop) F8SN-C1. The C1 played the game MUCH more smoothly, which was pretty surprising as I've heard that the 3650 is very close to, if not superior to the 9500M GS in the C1.
Sorry for the long post, but can anyone help me sort this out?
Edit: Sorry for not being very clear. I meant to ask which PC would be better when my primary use for the computer would probably not be gaming. I know the F8 is smaller, but the fact that it is slower than the F8SN-C1 which it supposedly "replaced" seems weird. Can anyone answer if this can be attributed to the slightly lower clocked Montevina with less cache in the VA-B1 or is the 3650 slower than the 9500M GS?
