F8 during boot isnt taking me to Safe Mode

Using Logitech MX Duo wireless keyboard...

No matter how many times i jam the sucker, no luck....

Any ideas?

What OS? It is possible to disable/prevent the OS from bringing up the boot menu when F8 is pressed. In Win98, etc. it was done via an option in the msdos.sys file. In Win2k/XP I think you can do it in the boot.ini file or startup/recovery options. I've never personally done it on 2K/XP though.

Modified the boot.ini to force me into safe mode....

you could run msconfig>boot.ini & check safeboot
the system will now reboot into safe mode.
