F1-I'm pretty impressed with Max Verstappen.

It was interesting what they said about Carl Haas. I didn't even know he passed. I've been in the pits in Long Beach and I've seen Carl Haas and Paul Newman. I remember seeing Carl Haas riding a scooter up to the pit box with a cigar in his mouth. He was a man who enjoyed life.

Haas/Newman was my favorite racing team of all time. It had Mario and later on Michael, then ol Nigel.
C'mon now. Paul Newman a co-owner. How cool is that? Plus Jim McGee was one of the better technical chiefs to grace open wheel racing.
It makes me sad now that Newman and Haas is gone. Mario retired a long time ago and Michael stopped racing without that Indy win.
I suppose the spirit lives on, Michael has a great and successful team and he turned into a nice guy with same generosity that his previous generation showed.
Nigel Mansell and Mario Andretti are my favorite drivers. Not so much for their win count or ratio, but how much they sacrificed in their respective early years.
Too bad they didnt get a long with each other.
I'm hoping for a miracle that open wheel racing gets the spotlight again.

Back on topic, this kid is showing some early stages of greatness. However, I think Riccardio will show some fierce determination if their 2017 car develops soundly. Red Bull has to become more competitive. I have a feeling that Red Bull will fire sale both their teams if they dont get a championship or two soon. They are just as important as Ferrari because nobody thinks of the consequences if Red Bull exits. I know that isn't on their radar, but I can imagine happening under a tragic string of events.
The F1 climate is depressing. Haas is the new first team to show promise in a very long time. Manufacturer involvement is minimal. One tire monopoly that sucks at their one job. At least Goodyear was good at it when they were the sole supplier. Gone are Toyota after a short stint, BMW went all in and left. Ford left, and the French are MIA save Renault. No Michelin, no Magny Cours.
I thoughth I'd never see a day where Honda wheezed with constant asthma. Even after they left the first time, old Honda engines recycled by their supplier had more success than a full factory effort today.
I hate today's formula. It's stupid.
