just picked up 2 laptops, one for me and one for a friend. the sony vaio battery lasts 30 minutes (!) and it takes like 3 hours to charge! the other one charges much more fast, and it stays on for 2 1/2 hours. i guess i have a bad battery, is there anything aftermarket i can buy, or only sony OEM fits?
 
The best would be a Sony battery - however - there are also 3rd party makers for the most common machines. You might also check your Sony manual and run it's battery calibration program - usually found in the BIOS.
