(rant on)

i just got my new enermax 460W WhisperII and started my upgrade (still waiting for more parts)..anyway i replaced my aging 320W Enlight with the Enermax as first part of my upgrade.

BUT IT WAS A F*&&#& choire.

These d**m ATX main-power connectors (the big one for the mainboard) !
I remember ALWAYS having problems with one of the pins "popping out", eg. first it needs hell of pressure so i thought i might break the board. (The old board was already mounted in the case and i couldnt support it from behind).
So i had to press like mad...one of the pins pops out....then i had a piece of plastic stuck in one connector-pin of the brand-new PSU which took me HOURS to pull out. (How stupid am i, i wanted to widen the pins with a brittle plastic toorh-pick and of course it got stuck)

Anyway after hours for something you do not expect the SLIGHTEST problem i somehow got it, using parts of the older PSU-connector and improvising a working connector for the 3.3V pin on the board. (It didnt want to stick on the connector on the mainboard, no matter what i did)

I think these connectors, the whole PSU connector standard needs a overhaul or something...it's cheap and unreliable (VERY unreliable).....wonder how many have problems because of that and dont realize it. (Eg. unexplainable crashes etc...)

(Rant off)

Sorry to hear you had such troubles. I've never had a problem with these connectors (besides them sometimes sticking while trying to pull them apart), nor do I hear very many people complaining about them.

I've never experienced any problem with ATX or Molex connectors. I've never heard any of my co-workers or friends complain about them either. Perhaps you should attend a computer building workshop or something, they really should pose any problem. <shrug> sh!t happens I guess........

Edit: I know that sounds kinda mean or whatever, it's not meant to it just seems you're having alot more trouble then you should so if someone "in the know" gave you a hand a time or two you'd probably be golden going forward.....

i dont need a building course..lol...

the point is...some board/psu combos seem to make bigger troubles than others. My lst build with the enlight PSU didnt have a problem at all....no big deal just plugging the connectot on the board, done.

The board before...i remember one pin popping out...and now this one. Still stand by my opinion that its not the sturdiest, most reliable thing

My 24 to 20 pin connector had a wire pushed back, and I didn't notice it for a few hours. So my machine was dead while I freaked out.

Bingo !!!! And i wanna know how often this happens...or people just dont know how good/bad their contacts actually are...
