I took advantage of the new "run as a service" feature. The new vid drivers are so cool that I think I'm running two instances of the SMP client and three instances of the gpu client. The gpu clients are completing frames in about 45 seconds and the cpu usage is minimal. This might be the best thing to happen at FAH in a while.

Keep folding,

I give...the dates on that thread start in Oct '08.

Has the linked file been updated?

Does the SMP client play nice as a service these days? I've never had any luck getting it to run!

Share the wealth buddy!

What client (GPU or SMP) is using the 'run as a service' feature? What new vid drivers (version) are you telling us about?

What machine is running 3 vids, and 2 SMPs for you (I assume with 3 video cards? )

I don't know. I would have said the SMP does not run as a service, but Gravity's post has me confused.

(I think the client update file has been in existance for a while... I was just posting a reminder because if you haven't got that latest one yet.... the time has come)

Yea, I read the FAH forums and the new smp updated client will run as a service. I have it running now. There was so little cpu activity that I added another smp client. CPU activity is still pretty low on all 4 processors. It spikes now and again but nothing major. I don't feel the clients running anymore. Prior to the 180 drivers I often had to pause and wait for the gpu to let go of the resources.

I'm running a 9800gx2 and a 9800gtx in this box. It's a pretty big point producer. I do wish that we could control the fans of multiple cards. I heard that the rivatuner guy was going to work on that but no word yet.

Trying to catch MFW,

Ahh GPU client! I haven't installed that yet but I have a 4850 and therefore not so much to gain.
