F@H: Which is better on Linux, Linux Console, or Windows Console + WINE.

Which one do you think would give me better performance? Anyone else who runs F@H on linux i'd like to know.

I remember someone (osage?) did tests of Linux CLI versus Windows CLI on Wine in Linux some time ago. The Windows CLI was faster, but there was a bug that caused enough lost production (IIRC from a machine hanging and not being noticed for a while before it could be rebooted) that he determined that in the end the plain old Linux CLI was a better choice. Things may well have changed with the latest clients and cores, so obviously advice from someone who has done more recent tests would be good. 🙂

I suggest using the Linux CLI ver4. The neweset Linux CLI seems very stable and comparably fast to the Windows CLI. I have an AMD XP1600+ running RedHat 9, that works very well with it and use the -forceSSE and -advmethods flags with positive results. Another AMD XP1600+ I have running WinXP Pro and the Win CLI client has frame times of same wu's about 2-3% faster than the Linux version, I think that is negligible... Not done any actual benchmarks between the various clients in Linux, but just my opinion, if the native version works so well, might as well go with it. If ya care to run F@H as a service in Linux, check HERE and scroll down for some good instruction.
