I found this in my FAHlog.txt file this morning....

got a whoppin 2 points for it:

[10:53:51] Thank you for your contribution to Folding@Home.

------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think this one is a result of instability on my end... but I'll keep an eye on it. I'm OC'd, but I usually get a different exit when I take my machine unstable...

Anyone else get one of these lately?

I've seen that a few times. One of my machines is oc'd and has never had it happen, yet the 'normal' one has......

That sucks (especially the points)... :(

It's happened to me also once or twice, not seeming to be related with overclocking.

I haven't seen that particular end.

That was a Tinker, wasn't it? And only 1.5 hour into it.

Well, form a scientific point of view you've proven that this molecule is absolutely not working. So that's a god thing. And 2 points is at least 2 points, more like an honor point than a real reward.

Isn't that what this whole thing is about...Which proteins fold incorrectly and why? Why did the 500,000 instances before you fold to completion but yours didn't? That could be really big. Sid, what would you do if you just cured cancer?

woo hoo! Ding Dong the witch is dead!!! Too bad I had to cure it after I quit smoking. ;)

but to the rest... yeah, I don't get bothered at all with the wierdities that come up from time to time. I'm sure someone else said it sometime.... "you can't learn anything without ferking up a zillion things first" (Chances are that I've learned I can't run my 2500+ at 2180MHz with this cooling and MoBo. :D )

Can someone tell me whats going on here?

The first time it happened it pissed me off, now that it happened again I think there is something wrong.

I have been trying to figure out if I have discovered my OC has turned to the dark side or if we are getting some new Work Units that are flawed.

Now don't get pissed..... we volunteered for quasi-beta testing when we set the '-advmethods' flags on our clients, so we may just be unlucky guinea pigs.

I backed my OC down from 2180 (which was stable for ~2 weeks now) to 2150 which was stable for months to try and see if I am the problem or if we are just helping to refine work units.

So keep smiling, back off that OC a little if you aren't stock and we'll see what happens.

I lose WUs now and then, I had a Tinker crap out a few days ago and only got 5 points, fortunately it had only been going a couple hours. Much worse was a couple weeks ago I lost a 600-point Gromacs 3/4 of the way through, and only got 30 points. But I just let things keep chugging away, lucky for me these were isolated incidents.

However there is still plenty of weirdness to go around... we got a new TeAmmate today who has only 38 points, from 53 total WUs! I wish I knew the cause of this so we could help out...

I'm stumped!

The server (.112) is fine with lots of WUs.

What client are you using? (Client-core communications error)

Is the queue full? Are any WUs waiting to be sent?

Hopefully J will see this, he probably can help!

OK, now it is getting REALLY strange.... I just found THIS on my second machine. (I backed down it's OC the same time I backed down the OC on the first machine to show wierdness)

-------------------------------------

Process 1136 is currently running and may also be a client with Mach. ID 1.
Program will now exit. Upon restart, this check will not be done --
you may wish to check that no client is currently running in
C:\Scott\Folding at Home before restarting.

-------------------------------------

Something is not right ?????

Any of you folks lurk in the F@H forum? Anything being said over there?

I had that happen when my system crashed hard. When it came back up, F@H gave me that message even though no other clients were running (I checked in the Task Manager). Starting the client again worked just fine, and in my case it picked up from where it was in that WU before the crash.

I have had bad work units in the last 2 days.
