F@H: upgrading to v4

Hello,

I just found out that there is a new version of F@H and had some questions.

1) Just wanted to know what changed in the newest version... I last had 3.24.

2) How do I upgrade? Will the installer keep my existing WU that I am processing?

3) Or do I need to uninstall and install anew?

Thanks... tried to do searches for a f@h faq regarding the new version, couldn't find it.

just wait till you finish and send the WU you are on now. then delete the old324.exe, and replace it with the new 4 version.

if you are running it as a service don't forget to update the info there as well to point to the new .exe

What changed? Numerous things, for the better, of course, but the one that matters to me is that it will now attempt to resend a WU after a successful WU receive, if the former WU failed to send the first time around. What used to happen with the old client for those of us on dialup, is that it would finish a WU, attempt to send, fail, attempt to send again usually before the modem finished dialing, fail again leaving WU stuck in queue, then finally get around to getting a new WU after the connection came up. Then, every six hours, it would try again to send the stuck WU, triggering a connection but never actually trying again to send the WU once the connection was up. This is all now resolved in the new client - it behaves much more intelligently in this regard. 🙂

As for the other stuff, try the Changelog on the F@H site. 😉
