Morning TeAm! :)

I am still soaking in the differences between F@H and the other TA projects I have participated in. :p

I am sorry to here you are having trouble uploading Slider....
(I guess I should create shortcuts to my log files.)

Welcome Reaper! Can you imagine the boost if Mondo came over too? ;)

I guess it is time to boost my wife's PC performance.
Her AXP-M is currently running 32C (load) @ 1.45v.
I think I will start with 3200+ settings :)

(edit) Is there any way to track offsite boxes like FAH LogStats does locally?

Thanks for the stats kc3edk! :thumbsup:

Happy to see the new folders: TA_TheReaper, Echonic, jenus. and saladami :) WELCOME :)

As to the work units that won't upload. I have no idea of your setup, but it seems like most times when someone reports this difficulty it turns out to be an issue with ZA or Router setup. Sadly, I have no good suggestions. Hopefully, someone will. It isn't normal for results to be finiky about uploading.

Sorry for FAD ending. I know it had a lot of loyal crunchers in that project. I'm happy that some of you are giving F@H a try. I hope you like it!

The Stanford F@H forums have a section for third party contributions.. (installers, monitors, etc.) You might try there to see of there is a tool that will let you monitor those off site boxes.

stanford forums third party contributions section

Actually I think the FAH LogStats program has a way to let you monitor remote boxes using windows shares and/or FTP. I don't know the details, but I'm sure if you post your questions at the Standord Forum (and keep doing it here too) an answer will surface.

A hearty welcome, TA_TheReaper, Echonic, jenus. and saladam:D
Looks like some serious processing power:thumbsup:

Slider76, sorry about not being able to upload the work units. The only problem I ever had was after completing one unit, it started downloading one of the 600 pointer units. when I came back about an hour later to check on it, I had a different lower-point WU. The funny thing is I got credit for doing the 600 pointer and I had 8 more points

So far the biggest problem I can see with Folding is the fact that from just reading around on the forums there, which are very slow bty, the some of the admins and mods as well as some of the posters there are a ,hmmm don't think I can use the word for what they are here, but you get the idea I hope. I see now why no one from here hardly ever goes there.

Sadly you got this right....

It isn't a bad resource for answers to technical difficulties, but don't even bother offering suggestions or criticisms. On the brighter side, it isn't usually Stanford people that are rude. Just a couple of the regulars there that think they own the place.

Yes, and you're not the first person to notice this... Insidious went to those forums a few months back to complain about the inequities in the points system, and had to endure the flames. I think there's kind of a "fanboy" element there that reacts with hostility to any sort of suggested change or constructive criticism.

However, I don't let that affect my dedication to the F@H TeAm, everyone here has always been very supportive! I also agree with the basic aims of F@H and am impressed with their research results having been published in journals like Nature, JBC, etc.

I think the ultimate solution to the points inequities will be when F@H moves over to BOINC... when that happens I'm going to be one of the first to switch! I wonder if the cutover is taking so long in part because of the traditional Stanford/Berkeley rivalry... :)

Don't think I will ever learn how to post here. :p

Ok I can live with that. I did try to get boinc going with linux but never had much luck. I'm folding with no problem though. :D

Folding@home isn't moving to BOINC, they're just planning on adding this as an option, just like they're having a Google-client-option.

If they haven't changed their plans resently, they're aiming on only supplying "timeless" work, but atleast during the beta if they don't have any available you'll get "normal" wu.

Crediting should be the same folding-points as always, added to the normal folding-stats. But, usernames under BOINC should be unique, meaning anyone that's previously run Folding@home and want to test-out the BOINC-version must find themselves a new username...

They're also going to export normal BOINC-stats, when they'll landed on a conversion-factor from folding-points to Cobblestones.

Anyway, there's still some bugs that needs fixing...

Welcome to the F@H TeAm, TA_TheReaper, Echonic, jenus. and saladami :) If you have any questions or need any help, just ask.

Congratulations to the Milestone Makers!

Nice races guys ;)

Thanks Adam :cool:

Thanks Rattledagger for the excelent explanation! I think they will be surprised how fast the results get sent in and how many will crunch F@H on BOINC!

@Slider76
Are you using the v5 client? It will send to a special Collection Server if the server you got the WU from is down. If you change to the new v5 client, make a copy of your folding directory, if I remember right v5 changes the queue structure and may mess up the unsent WUs.

@xbassman
There is a program that can monitor over IP. Check Sids link to third party programs.

@Freewolf
They have gotten better over there, no really! After showing how they were hurting The Projects Good Name. :)

Looks like F@H gave you credit for the 2 missing WU's - a whole 4 points. I was checking to see if I will be able to catch you. If it keeps up like it is now I will be about a week too late.
I noticed it said you completed 2 WU's at 9:00 but only gave you a couple of points each

Gleem, yeah i'm running v5 but it won't send to the collection server either.

Scott, nah thats a different problem. I restarted pc but forgot i had f@h as a service, so it was running twice. i've turned in the 58 pointer, and its given me credit for it. but i still have a ~360 pointer sitting in my cue, that is finished.
