F@H: Stats and Trends

Malak

Lifer
Sorry about the delay, worked 21 hours in 2 days so I was pretty busy.

No new members.

New Milestones:

Name -----|----- Milestone
______________________

bastula ............. 60,000
GerryPSU80 ...... 40,000
oneshot4738 ..... 20,000
OmrTech ........... 5,000
jpunzel .............. 1,000
beorntheold ....... 1,000

Congrats guys!

On the 3rd we got 52k points and the 4th we got 55k points. Our trend line says we should be getting a little bit more than that, but it's pretty close. An interesting note is that our active users dropped considerably the 3rd and even further the 4th, yet points went up. Our hourly average is actually on a slight incline.

Some may be wondering why their milestones aren't showing up. The stats I pull the milestones from don't seem to show all the milestones. I believe it doesn't show past 200k specifically. I'm not ignoring people, I just don't have my own filters to check the stats daily to find everyone myself, so I have to use this one. I'm sorry if you are missed.

I think what you are doing is great too. And appreciate your taking the time to do it.

Congratulations to the MM's. 😎

Thanks malak!

Hey i got a quick question. I just started running F@H on my AMD64 3000 and on my P4 2.8. They've been going for about 30 minutes but i don't see my name under team anandtech. I put in team number 198. was that correct? I'm guessing it just didn't update yet?

You don't show up on the team until you send in some results.

It depends on what type of WU and the system it is running on. Some of my machines take days and others a day or so. Sorry I don't have an exact time but hang in there it will finally show up. These take longer than SETI WU's so don't get discouraged! You may want to configure your client to accept the big WU's to get more credit for your work.

Welcome to the TeAm, bigal40 🙂 If you have any other questions or need any help, just ask!

Some of the biggest WUs can take up to maybe three days on a fast rig like you have.

Which client are you running? CLI or GUI?

I'm not sure. It is the top one on this site Text. Quick question. What does WU stand for and what is the difference between Wu and your score.
Thanks for the help.
Big Al

WU = Work unit. Each work unit has a pre-set point amount for finishing it. If your computer can handle it, there are big wu's that give out big points. It looks like your computer could probably do them just fine. If you go into the config for your client, select the option that says to allow units bigger than 5mb or something like that.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

DainBramaged rigs back online 😀 Who knows how long i'll last this time, but i'm sure you guys will take anything you can get.

Well, I tapped into some of the comps at work. However, it most likely won't continue, as I'm going to try to have the F@H service install integrated into our disk images and set up some sort of a team for our work. I've seen sufficient evidence now that the service install in no way interferes with the computers. Considering our lab computers are used 5% of the time at most (they're on 24/7/365 pretty much), it would be nice to see them put to something constructive the other 95% of the time. But until we get new images out with F@H on them, you can bet your darndest that I'm going to continue pumping out massive WUs. I'm actually using less than half of our machines now🙂

Hey guys I got another question. I know that amd's are better at science but my amd64 3000 @ 2000mhz has already completed 2 WU but my p4 2.8 has not completed one cycle. It is estemating to be done on tuesday. Is the p4 that much slower or doesit just have a lager WU?
Thanks
Big Al

"Is the p4 that much slower or does it just have a lager WU?"

Look for the protein WU name, something like: p1140_RIBO_FSpeptide_EXT_nospring. The project is p1140. It can be found in the FAHlog.txt file in the directory FAH is run from.

This web page: http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html
shows the projects and how many points a WU is worth.

A monitor program like FAH LogStats (http://sourceforge.net/projects/fahstats/) will give lots of info - points per day, points per week, protein name, credit, deadline, time per frame, etc.

If the client/computer is not properly shut down, on restart it may not use optimized code. Has the P4 crashed after you started FAH?

If you add the -forceasm flag to the startup shortcut, the client will always use optimized code.
