Thanks! :)

I'd like to ask: if I had dual core could I run one client on each core? The X2 I was getting has to be RMA'ed so right now I got a 3700+ chugging away at my 2nd WU.

Welcome to the DC forum, aLeoN :)

Yes you can run two clients on dual core to good advantage!

The clients can be one GUI and one console OR two consoles. You cannot run two GUIs at the same time.

You MUST change the second clients' MachineID. The default is 1 on both types, so change the second console to "2". You can have up to eight clients per computer. It can be set during configuration.

Run in a separate directory and add the -local flag to console clients.

If you need further directions on how to do this or have any other questions, just ask. Or check MDE's Start-up Guide, (link above).

Yes, you can set it up so you have F@H running on each of the cores. Sucks about the RMAing, but once it comes the world will be a better place :D

I've got a couple of questions.
1 - Is there any reason you can't have a mini-team running F@H?
2 - I'm on dial-up & have 3 computers(2 HT P4's & 1 XP1800). Is F@H practical to run on all of them? I was at least thinking of running it on the one i use most & is connected the most.

1. A mini-team really isn't any different than a single user with more than one machine.. No reason whatsoever not to run as a mini-team if you prefer.

2. The only difficulty is that you can't cache work units. practicality really only depends upon practicality of connecting each of the machines to upload results and download next WU

(I'm not really an 'offical' F@H person, but I wanted to make sure the first answer you got was WELCOME to any and all.. mini-team or not.)

Is there any way to tell how fast a certain comp will process a WU? Or are they all different?

FahCore_7a..? Anyone know what that is? Normally it's FahCore_78, but when I started one of my clients it was that, and it's only taking 5mb of memory. 78 is taking 100mb.

the cores are serialized (numbered)

there are more than one core...

They are numbered in hexidecimal base... ie: 78, 79, 7a, etc..

it just means you are working a unit with a newer core than you had before.

example: right now I am folding one unit on core 79 and one unit on core 82.

it's not a problem

drink a

:D

Ahh ok. Should the fact that it's only 5mb mean that it's a small and fast one?

I like the sound of that! :D

25th place doesn't sound right for the TeAm! Especially when you consider all the power users crunching with various projects.....

I have spent most of my time crunching UD. (about 5 years)
But with UD's failings and other dist projects ending, I think it is FAH's time! ;)
