You don't have to run the beta to get the bonus point work units.

For the QMD work units, F@H only assigns those to P4 machines.

For AMD machines, you still have several bonus point work units. Just nothing to the extreme of the QMDs.

There have been lots of excuses... er, "explanations" offered by the F@H team about this inequity, but frankly unless the license requirements for Intel and AMD utilities change in a way that supporting AMD takes no extra effort (or the FAH team begins to realize how many folders are not people who have scavenged PCs and servers from their labs which are mostly Intel) we just have to accept it.

the 'advmethods flag is a good idea if you want to maximize your production. I don't know which protiens actually require it, but some definitely do.

I am not following (don't understand) the "Updating" manually question.

So you are saying that FAH LogStats is now updating with all the current proteins?

EDIT: spelling

All I'm sure of right now is that I can see points where I couldn't before. 😀

I can report that the calculation reported doesn't exactly agree with EOC stats. For instance a 5 or 6 week EOC average gives me about 5826 a week, but the FAH LogStats indicate more like 6800. Of course that may just be the current week? 😕

I know now that my P3 733 does about 137 PPW and my A64 3200+ Venice does about 1747 PPW. All the others are somewhere in between. 😎

I have another question.....
Do you have to run the new "beta" client and -advmethods to get the big point wu's?

And has anybody tried them using AMD vs P4.

My AMD's completely kill the P4 machines that I'll get online soon.

No you don't need the beta client.

The new beta client is just the old client with two new abilities: choose amount of ram to be declared to server and config -advmethods (instead of use flag)

The QMD bonus WUs can only be sent to Intel P4/Xeon. The other bonus WUs can go to all.

The QMD core WUs will not run with optimizations on AMD and so do not give good PPD.

And yes AMD's do kill Intel - except for QMD WUs and they might not be around forever.
