DeinoMPI version of the F@H SMP client, all 4 threads start fine, but 3 immediately start closing and only one thread remains. Vista 32-bit on rig below.

Thoughts?

Someone here knows the answer.

Until they post:

Did you create a password logon to Windows?

Did you install to the root of C:\ or at least not to Program Files?

Not sure why but most folders here are using the MPICH version.

bump

Could you post some of the log where it shows everything from when the client starts to when it quits? Make sure to have the "-verbosity 9" flag so it will show everything.
The log file is named: FAHlog.txt

There ya go, I haven't seen that error before, so verbosity 9 probably would have helped in diagnosis. :D

Also, first 2 threads die, then another dies, then 1 remains.

I'm using DEINO, but I don't know why that would happen for you. Only solution I can think of is re-install the SMP client. If the problem still exists, reinstall both SMP and DEINO client, and place it in a easier place to remember like root of D.

Yes, if you reinstall put it on the root.

That might be the problem. I think with Vista, system folders are protected or something.

You could try changing the current install folder to Administrative or something like that. And I seem to remember something about another folder to change also. I think it is in My Documents/App Data or something like that.

I wish a Vista folding TeAmmate would help out here!

So I'm just going to threadjack this...didn't want to create a new topic because I don't think it belongs in a new thread. Plus, it is SMP related so the OP might be interested.

If I don't finish a SMP WU in time, do I still get partial points? Reason be is because my AMD wasn't folding properly on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the final deadline is tomorrow, so according to Fahmon, I won't make it in time.

In vista 64, It should run in the Program Files (x86) Directory and in Vista 32 bit, Create a folder within Progrm Files. Create a folder within that directory. Just make sure that you have uninstalled the client thoroughly and then reinstall in your newly created folder. This should work fro there. :)

If you miss the final deadline, you get no points.

Question: can you use the -send xx flag to send your remaining WU if the deadline is almost reached?

-send only sends results from any WUs that are finished.

You could try to use the qfix utility. Find it at the folding at home forums (search)
I don't really think that will help though. It is for WUs that have errored out (EUE) and don't get sent.

Your best bet is to stop the client, go to your working directory. Delete queue.dat, delete unitinfo.txt and delete the folder named work. Then let it download a fresh WU when you start the client again.

As to the OP, The behavior you are seeing is pretty typical of a PC that is overclocked too much.

Great....no points in from my sis' un-finished SMP. I believe it was at 70% too....I could confirm that later today. *sigh*

@OP. Congrats! What are you folding on anyways? Your rig in sig? Clock that Q9550 higher man. It seems that you've got a nice CPU there.

Yeah, I haven't had time, taking a bunch of lvl 4 classes, eventually I'm going to get 3.6/3.8. Problem is, I have to reseat my zerotherm nirvana, because my temps are way to high, like, almost 60C, and if I had applied the thermal grease correctly It'd be lower.

(So yes, the rig in sig, haha)
