new 6.23 SMP public beta clients--improved EUE handling
Posted by kasson on 10/10/2008

We are releasing new SMP clients to public beta. These clients feature improved handling of early unit ends.

Drop-in replacement binaries are available at:
Linux
OSX
Windows (either MPICH or Deino)

Installers will follow. These clients expire on February 2, 2009. We will likely release non-expiring versions for Linux and OSX, reflecting the more mature state of those clients, in the near future.

Please post comments/feedback/bug reports in the appropriate SMP forums.

Looking fine here.

(stop client (reboot to be sure), replace present executable with newly downloaded one, start client, allow permission in firewall.... done)

Thanks.

I had a work unit that just finished up a few hours ago, and it gave me yet another "error 0x7b", "shutting down", yada yada yada error (this was on a different, completely stock machine, mind you). Just finished dropping in this new executable, and it seems to be back in business. The previously finished WU is being recognized as OK and is being uploaded.

Thanks Foxery! Will give it a whirl later on tonight or in the morning.. I want to put it on one of my rigs that seems to have the most issues. Appriciate the heads up on this. 🙂

Had an issue with 2 clients earlier today, replaced with new and all working very well. Hope this fixes the glitches! 🙂

I had some good timing here... I rarely get EUEs, but my client received *2* bad WUs while I was out yesterday, and dealt with them properly. Woo!
